Job Summary
The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a Research Associate to investigate decarbonisation of cement via a novel reactor pathway and improved clinkering methods. The project will involve both experimental work and simulation, using (for example) Aspen Plus.
You will be assisting in the design, construction, and modelling of a novel high temperature cement production system, and testing of the properties of the cement produced.
You will be working with a strong team of researchers at the Fennell Laboratory in London, who have a proven history of publishing world leading research.

You will also support a PhD student, who started in 10/2022.
To be successful in the role, you will need theoretical knowledge of and practical experience in high temperature (900oC+) engineering in a laboratory context. You will also have knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures as well as practical experience within a research environment and/or publication in relevant and refereed journals. Experience of working with graduate research students would be preferred as well as flowsheeting using a package such as ASPEN.

You can start immediately the contract will run for 24 months in the first instance. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
New appointments will have a maximum starting salary of £44,876 based on experience.
