As a Technician in our Mechanical Workshop you will be responsible for aiding staff and students in the manufacture of components and equipment for experimental and research purposes that will be used in all environments from beneath the oceans, cleanrooms, high voltage labs to outer space.
You must be an experienced machinist having completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or having work experience from relevant technical roles. You will be able to use your skills and experience to manufacture complex and high precision work, machining components from specialist materials using a range of conventional machine tools (Centre Lathes and Vertical Mills). Ideally with experience of CNC machining including multi-axis CNC Mills and Lathes and EDM. The ability to programme, set and operate would be beneficial although training could be provided.
You will be an effective communicator able to explain technical issues to those less experienced and where English may be their second language. You will have excellent time management skills. You will be used to working to tight tolerances and unaccompanied producing components to engineering drawings.
