This job description is for three positions spanning both Research Associate (2 posts) and Research Fellow (1 post). As members of the team the appointee(s) will work on a variety of reviews (using a variety of review techniques) and research projects using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. The post holder(s) will also engage in our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and other Stakeholder Engagement programmes.
The job skills for this post include research project management, strong skills in undertaking literature reviews, and good understanding and experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods applicable to health and social care policy research. Good interpersonal communication skills are essential for communicating with colleagues across the OPFPRU and with policy stakeholders, as well as for involvement in PPIE and work with other stakeholders.
The successful candidates will work closely with a number of members of the OPFPRU team on specific reviews and projects. The post-holder(s) will be line managed on a day-to day basis by senior colleagues within the OPFPRU but will report to Prof Chris Todd the OPFPRU Director, working with Jane McDermott Head of Operations and Strategic Collaboration, who will ensure that all the OPFPRU milestones and deliverables are met on time and to target. The post holder will have office space in Jean McFarlane Building, although we are currently working a hybrid model which includes home working and are happy to discuss flexible working options. There will be further support from a variety of health and social scientists across the PRU's partner sites.
These positions would ideally suit candidates who have undertaken postgraduate research training in health or social or psychological sciences with experience in systematic and/or other robust literature review methods, alongside using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the OPFPRU partners and in a thriving research environment at The University of Manchester.
When applying please indicate whether you are applying for Research Fellow or Research Associate Grade, or that you would be willing to be considered for either grade.
Interviews for all posts will be held on Wednesday 11th January 2023.
