The Department of Life Sciences is one of the largest in the University attracting large numbers of students on a range of foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. At undergraduate level, we offer degrees in Biomedical Science, Healthcare Science (Physiological Sciences), Human Physiology and Human Biosciences. There are taught postgraduate programmes in Biomedical Science, Clinical Sciences and Human Physiology. The Department resides within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and benefits from spacious, modern and well-equipped teaching and research facilities having benefitted from significant recent and on-going investment.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for our students in the Department of Life Sciences and enhancing our research reputation. You will have an academic, research and/or clinical background, with expertise and experience in biochemistry. You will have a first and higher degree in a relevant discipline and will be confident in teaching biochemistry at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There is also an expectation that you will undertake appropriate research and scholarly activity, with the successful candidate having a research profile that aligns to an appropriate research theme within the Bioscience Research Centre.

In recognition of staff contributions to the University's achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff. This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
