The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Manager to join their busy Research Grants and Contracts department.
The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing.
The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership.

The NBI Partnership Research Grants and Contracts Office is highly respected, dynamic, professional, effective and results driven. It provides expert advice, guidance and management to the John Innes Centre, Quadram Institute Bioscience, The Earlham Institute and The Sainsbury Laboratory. The office supports scientists in identifying and winning grants from a wide variety of external funding sources including UKRI, the European Union (EU), and industry. In addition, the office negotiates and manages all research related contracts, ensuring freedom to operate, protection of interests, intellectual property and provision of appropriate indemnity.
This post will lead on the development and implementation of processes and internal systems which will help ensure the Norwich Bioscience Institutes, and the research they undertake is compliant with the Nagoya Protocol (Compliance) Regulations.
Working alongside colleagues in the Research Grants and Contracts Office, you will also engage heavily with key stakeholders across the NBI’s (JIC, Earlham, QIB and TSL). You will need to provide a professional, effective, proactive and responsive service.
You will lead on identifying and implementing best practice, ensuring that processes and systems developed meet the needs of the Institutes, align with and compliment internal policy and provide a framework for compliance with external legislation
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with previous experience in a similar role within a research organisation or university.
They will have sound knowledge and understanding of the Nagoya Protocol and the UK ABS Regulations as well as practical experience of electronic records systems and portals.
They will be able to work independently within a broad framework, manage diverse workloads and successfully deliver to deadlines.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £42,050 to £51,950 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 12 months.
