Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Synthetic Organic Chemistry within UCD School of Chemistry.
The School of Chemistry is located within the modern UCD Science Centre, with access to well-equipped laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities, bringing together a vibrant community of students and researchers. The School contributes to the suite of science-based undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes offered at UCD. In addition, it has a long-established track record in research and innovation in molecular science, hosting staff with expertise in the fields of Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Sustainable Chemistry, and Nanoscience. This contributes to a dynamic environment that fosters excellence in both teaching and research. The successful candidate will have research interests in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. These interests could include, but are not limited to, the development of synthetic organic methodology, catalytic asymmetric synthesis, the synthesis of compounds of biological interest, the expansion of green synthetic processes, and the conversion of biomass-derived substrates. The School of Chemistry has strengths in synthesis, medicinal chemistry and chemical biology and has a keen interest in expanding its synthetic chemistry research. Applicants with research interests that align with potential collaboration/funding from industrial sources and that complement the research groupings within the School are particularly welcome.
The candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development for our BSc, MSc and PhD programmes, will supervise and perform cutting edge research and contribute as required to administration of the school.
