Alumni Engagement Manager

University of Bristol - School of Economics

Location: Bristol
Salary: £39,745 to £44,737
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 8th December 2022
Closes: 12th January 2023
Job Ref: SUPP109228

The role

We are recruiting an Alumni Engagement Manager to join the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO), working exclusively within the School of Economics to embed alumni volunteering and engagement across the School strategy and operations. This is an exciting time to join a fast growing and ambitious team and a fantastic opportunity to work across two interesting and dynamic areas of the University.

The role holder will have a high level of autonomy and ownership, whilst working in a collegiate environment alongside colleagues with similar remits, such as the Alumni Engagement Manager (University of Bristol Business School).

Working in line with DARO’s strategic plan, you will find opportunities to embed alumni volunteering and engagement across a range of key areas including student recruitment (with a focus on Widening Participation), student experience, employability, and recent graduate engagement and community. This might lead to you create bespoke events, but also find ways to deepen involvement in existing programming. You’ll work in partnership with stakeholders to facilitate lasting and meaningful connections between alumni and the university. These stakeholders include academic and professional services staff, student societies, colleagues in fundraising, stewardship, and philanthropy. Most importantly, you will build deep relationships with Economics alumni from a broad range of sectors.

You’ll become an expert in both the needs and ambitions of Economics and DARO. You’ll be trying new and innovative activities, so will be committed to evaluating and demonstrating the impact of this work and continuous improvement.

You should apply if

The successful candidate will have proven relationship management experience. You will have excellent organizational and management skills, capable of working across a wide and diverse range of activities. You’ll be a creative thinker, seeing opportunities to develop connections between people and activities. You will have experience of successfully delivering supporter engagement programmes in a Higher Education setting or leading national organisation, both in the UK and internationally.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of people as well as building trusting and productive relationships both internally and externally.

You will have an enthusiasm for the impact of volunteering, philanthropic giving, and a belief in the importance of universities to society.  DARO’s vision is to ‘embed a culture of engagement and philanthropy at the heart of the University, with alumni and friends working seamlessly with University staff and students to transform lives’.  The team culture is optimistic, collaborative, and highly professional, where individual and team success is recognised in equal measure.

Please note that we are also recruiting for the position of Alumni Engagement Manager in the University of Bristol Business School. Please ensure you apply to both roles if you wish to be considered for both positions.
