Interim Department Accountant, Temporary, Full time 35 hours per week

The Role

We are looking for 2 X Interim Department Accountants to join our Finance department.

To work independently and in conjunction with other members of Finance and the Deans of Schools/Faculty, Professional Services Directorate and Heads of Departments and staff with professional advice and pro-active support on finance issues, identifying current and future operational activities to ensure that a coordinated and effective support service is provided across the portfolio.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. To provide proactive support to a number of departments, as allocated, liaising regularly with the relevant Budget Holders
2. To be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting to the departments, including monthly income and expenditure accounts with commentary, payroll reports, and forecasting information
3. To work proactively with Budget Holders in the preparation of their budget as part of the University’s annual planning cycle
4. To provide Budget Holders with qualitative reports and statistical analysis to inform planning and resource decisions
5. To prepare financial reports for departmental activities, identifying accruals, carry-forwards and closures as required.
6. To ensure that the department complies with the University’s financial regulations, policies and procedures and that new or revised policies and procedures are communicated and understood at all levels.
7. To ensure that financial information is disseminated to the relevant departments.
8. To gather information from multiple sources, analyse information, relay complex information accurately and in a manner that will support decision making.
9. Ensuring all expense claims, recovery of income invoicing, Agresso system updates are supported and processed in a timely manner.
10. To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Finance Business Partnering Manager and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

• The appointment is offered on a temporary basis, subject to satisfactory references.
• Your regular hours of work will be 35 hours per week, plus a lunch break of one hour each day
