We are seeking to recruit a technician to support our British Heart Foundation funded research into how the nervous system controls arteries and blood pressure. The technician will work closely with senior research associates and PhD students, supporting research through the establishment of neuronal cultures from mouse tissue. The technician will also support the phenotyping of individual neurons isolated from mouse autonomic ganglia through RNA extraction and single-cell RT-PCR. The project also seeks to genetically manipulate neurons in culture through use of adeno-associated viruses. Here the technician will support researchers through culture of mammalian cell lines and production of viral particles. In addition to these project-specific tasks, the technician will support research within the group more generally through deployment of organisational skills, training and supervision, assisting with the implementation of safe working practices, and participation in laboratory meetings.
The successful candidate will join a lively and internationally recognised group in the field of purinergic signalling led by Professor Samuel Fountain. The laboratory is well funded by British Heart Foundation, UKRI and industry partners, and located in the Biomedical Research Centre on the UEA campus.
This part-time (0.8fte) post is available from 1 May 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a fixed term basis until 28 February 2026.
