This exciting, full-time, 3 year Laboratory Technician post is available immediately in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Streatham Campus and based in the Department of Biosciences. The role is full time (1.0FTE, 36.5 hours per week), and will provide dedicated technical support to recreate plasmids, recombinant fungal strains of Ustilago maydis, Zymoseptoria tritici, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense, Trichoderma reesei, yeast-two hybrid cDNA libraries, a genomic library and a cosmid library. The successful candidate will work in the area of fungal molecular biology and should be experienced in molecular cloning and microbiology techniques. In addition, the successful candidate will manage consumables needed for the project and provide regular update reports on progress of recreating a specific list of materials.
We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who has experience in providing Technician support in a complex research laboratory environment. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle problems, excellent planning skills, with an ability to manage your own workload, set priorities and work to strict deadlines whilst remaining calm under pressure. Knowledge and experience of operating within a Health and Safety role, and biosciences environment would be essential.
