We are seeking applications from suitably qualified person with Doctor of Dental Surgery with certified membership of Professional Dental Bodies e.g. Royal College of Surgeons UK, a strong academic background (PhD qualification) and a demonstrated ability in university undergraduate teaching. The successful applicants must be able to teach undergraduate Dentistry Programme and related health sciences.  

We seek an experienced dentist with commitment and ability to excite students’ interest and to integrate key concepts in dentistry within a problem based curriculum. The successful applicants will be expected to teach wide areas of the fundamentals in the discipline of dentistry including basic medical and clinical knowledge, knowledge in restorative dentistry, performing examinations, making radiographs (x-rays) diagnosis and other experimental systems in the advancement of understanding and treatment of disease.  

While the appointee is actively encouraged to pursue his/her own research programmes, he/she is also expected to forge cooperative links in research and other related matters with faculty members, within the university as well as other institutions overseas, as part of contribution in the development of the PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.  

Academic and Professional Qualifications required: 

• PhD in DENTISTRY or related field (with a specialization in DENTAL SCIENCES and/or PRE-CLINICAL AND CLINICAL DENTISTRY) from a recognized university. 
• Demonstrates an outstanding record of research productivity and teaching excellence in the field of leadership, innovation including case studies;  
• Preference will be given to those who have taught (and supervised research students) at graduate level.  

In particular, we are looking for outstanding candidates who can 

• to teach courses (in areas of DENTISTRY – Health Sciences, Dental Sciences and Pre-Clinical and Clinical Dentistry) in programmes offered by the Institute in Universiti Brunei Darussalam;  
• to develop frameworks for learning and the design of instruction, and improve assessment methods in related module (s) in various settings (contexts);  
• to contribute to the research and publication activities through high impact publications, engagement in the Institute including research seminars and strengthening the Institute’s research clusters;  
• to collaborate with academics and professionals within and outside UBD to make a global impact through excellence in research and innovation; and 
• active participation in the activities of the Institute.
• Be an advocate and a positive role model on behalf of UBD, by promoting leadership that inspires, motivates and empowers all staff, and demonstrating the values of UBD; 
• Mentor the development of the faculty and supervise and evaluate instructors. 
• Keep up to date with learning, teaching and clinical developments and being alert to best practice (through continuing professional development including conferences, professional events and journals; 
• Develop and sustain student relationships through participation in student orientations and through providing proper counselling, coaching, mentoring, scheduling, and advisement, career goals, and other matters as appropriate; 
• Evaluate of student performance, attendance, grades, academic metrics, programme budget, classroom observations, instructor evaluations to ensure the programme is effectively managed and provide actionable information to the Dean; 
• Work locally with key groups and stakeholders, to attend and host events across the regions, to develop key liaisons and to ensure effective local engagement and responsiveness 
• Monitor available materials and upgrade/ update resources  
• Active in research with outcomes (publications and collaborative partnership) including forging cooperative links in research & related projects, with other faculties or disciplines, within the university as well as other institutions overseas.
