The University of Roehampton is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer of Sport and Exercise Nutrition to teach on our post graduate sport and exercise science programme. In the first instance, the work will involve teaching on a postgraduate sport and exercise nutrition module, commencing as soon as possible. In addition, you may be needed to help cover supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation project students, and there may be opportunity to contribute to teaching on other areas of the sport and exercise science programmes. The ideal candidate will have experience of leading sport and exercise nutrition related teaching at postgraduate level, and experience of supervising dissertation project students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We encourage a blended learning approach to teaching, combining traditional lectures, seminars, practical sessions, and student-led discussions. We also support students by providing activities and material that extend beyond scheduled contact time. There are currently established resources for the majority of teaching to be covered.
Successful applicants will have experience in many of the blended teaching approaches listed above, as well as with supporting students, and marking assessments, at an undergraduate level. Experience with online platforms such as Moodle is desirable. We are seeking individuals who are: student focused; demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; and can work flexibly.
We are looking to appoint asap to start on or soon after the week commencing January 23rd 2023, and so will start interviewing as we receive applications. Because of the short time scale, it may not be possible to respond to every applicant.
The rate of pay for Visiting Lecturers is £41.32 per classroom contact hour plus £9.56 of holiday pay per hour. This hourly rate reflects the requirement for preparation, assessments, meetings and marking. Additional marking and moderation and content development is paid at the rate of £20.35 per hour plus £3.26 of holiday pay per hour.
