Sheffield Institute of Education is appointing a Climate Change and Sustainability Fellow to play a key role in responding to the climate emergency by shaping our education-focussed research and innovation activity.

Our ambition is to be a leading university education group in the field of climate change and sustainability education. Building on our established track record of research, innovation, curriculum design and teacher development, particularly in the STEM subjects, the Climate Change and Sustainability Fellow will help us to achieve this ambition. They will develop strategic responses to the climate emergency through partnership building, mapping our expertise, updating and designing classroom materials and identifying opportunities for collaboration, funding and innovation.

This role will suit people with backgrounds in teaching, research or the third sector who are looking for an opportunity to drive change in an innovative, collaborative university education team. You might be a recently qualified teacher from the primary, secondary or Further Education sector. You might have graduated with a Masters in Education, or have completed a doctorate in an environmental science. You may be currently working in an education-linked role in an environmental third sector organisation. Whatever your background, you should have knowledge and experience of climate change education and be committed to making a contribution to addressing the climate emergency through education.

Sheffield Institute of Education

The Climate Change and Sustainability Fellow will be based in Sheffield Institute of Education’s Centre for Research and Knowledge Exchange, the home for funded research, knowledge exchange, innovation and consultancy in Sheffield Institute of Education.

We have been developing and delivering educational innovations and evaluations locally, nationally and internationally for over thirty years. Our staff includes experts in research, knowledge exchange and professional development. We are social researchers, curriculum designers, statisticians, teacher educators and so much more.

The team is academically-focused with a strong evidential base, partnership-orientated with a deep understanding of reality outside academia, cooperative and collaborative. We respond flexibly and creatively to challenges, with a commitment to delivery of the highest quality outputs.

We offer a collaborative working environment, working in partnership with colleagues from across education, the wider university and externally. Staff are able to pursue their educational interests and develop their expertise including university teaching, research, innovation, knowledge exchange and consultancy, supported by expert professional services staff.
