Salary: £26,396 to £32,348 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician for the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, based at the Sutton Bonington Campus. The person appointed will be working in a busy research environment which carries out high impact research within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. You will be providing technical support to a Food Safety Research Network project, planning and overseeing the day-to-day running of the phage laboratory, allocating resources and providing technical supervision/training in the use of equipment and techniques in the area of phage biology to relevant staff/students to ensure objectives are met.
Candidates should possess a minimum of HNC in relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications, plus considerable experience in a relevant role or substantial relevant experience. Demonstrated understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures, and experience in relevant techniques and equipment is essential. The post will require flexibility, dynamism, energy and initiative, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally. The successful candidate will take a positive and flexible approach to work in order to deal with a variety of requests and tasks.
This position is offered on a fixed term basis until 31 December 2023. Hours are part time (18.13 hours per week).
