The Role

The Research Finance Manager will be a member of the Research Finance Service Delivery Management team.

You will lead the Central Research Finance Service Delivery team and oversee all post award tasks and activities owned by Central team for research awards in this area.

You will work with Senior Research Finance Managers identifying and implementing process and system improvements in order to transform the quality of service provided to research budget holders. You will ensure a high-quality service to budget holders while supporting revenue billing and compliance with funding terms and conditions.

You will lead the training, coaching and development of your team – maintaining appropriate levels of resourcing and managing succession planning for your area.

The Person

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of managing teams during period of change
  • A continues improvement mindset and capability to adapt processes to accommodate changes in research and higher education field
  • Experience is designing and implementing processes in order to drive optimal efficiencies in the team, whilst maintaining robust controls
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively to both finance and non-finance colleagues within the organisation as well as externally
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Used to work with large amount of data to deliver meaningful analyses
