A 3-year postdoctoral position is available at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) to work in the Steroids and Metabolism group headed by Prof. Wiebke Arlt. LMS is an Institute funded by the MRC and is a Division of the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College. Based on the Hammersmith Hospital Campus in West London (W12), the LMS has first class facilities and provides investigators from clinical and basic science backgrounds with the opportunity to pursue innovative, multidisciplinary research within the excellence of Imperial College. Research in the Steroids and Metabolism group led by Prof. Wiebke Arlt focuses on the mechanisms by which steroids modulate metabolic disease risk, with a particular focus on differences between sexes. Current research interests in the lab include the examining the impact of female androgen excess on the steroid and global non-targeted metabolome and clinical phenotype parameters. The post holder will directly contribute to this work by applying machine learning-based data analysis to biochemical, biological and clinical data.
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant computational or similar quantitative discipline and substantial experience in the application of machine learning techniques to complex data. record, with at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed international journal is also essential. Expertise in analysis of steroid and/or non-targeted global metabolome data would be an advantage. The successful candidate must also have the ability to develop and apply new concepts, have a creative approach to problem solving, and be able to write clearly and succinctly for publication.
