About the Role

The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint an experienced Student Support Officer to manage the delivery of pastoral support for all students in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, and to co-ordinate the implementation and delivery of the School and University’s student experience, engagement and retention strategies. This is a key role, involving significant contact with academic, teaching and professional staff across various Queen Mary departments and Schools.

This is a fixed-term contract ending 30 September 2023, to cover an internal secondment, and starting as soon as possible.

You will be part of a team which proactively manages all administrative processes relating to teaching and learning within the School, supporting a complex range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including foundation and pre-masters degrees, plus in-sessional and pre-sessional English language and study skills courses, and additional language courses.

About You

You must hold a degree or equivalent experience. Experience of working in student support within higher education is essential, as is a detailed understanding of student support issues in higher education.

You must be able to communicate effectively and work creatively with diverse teams, and deliver practical solutions to complex issues. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, and to use your strong interpersonal skills to deal professionally with people at all levels.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus, London. It is fixed-term (until 30 September 2023) and full-time with an immediate start. The salary will be at Professional Grade 4, ranging from £36,348 - £38,308 per annum pro rata, inclusive of London Allowance.
