We are seeking to appoint a Research Development Manager to work in the Research and Partnerships Development team, which forms part of the Research, Partnerships and Innovation Directorate.
This central team, (currently 23 staff), helps to support institutional research priorities and academics across all three Faculties. The role provides an exciting opportunity to provide support for the development of strategically important research bids, primarily in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, particularly to help deliver the growth of larger, longer duration grants at Liverpool.
Many of these bids will require working with HEI partners, and/or private, public or third-sector organisations. The role will also be contributing to a research environment that helps build a pipeline of research activity. Typical duties include carrying out horizon scanning, provision of expert advice and guidance in the development of major research and impact proposals, engagement of the right stakeholders to create a bid team, and management of the response to strategic funding initiatives. The role will involve close collaborative working with colleagues in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The role reports to the Senior Research Development Manager facing the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
You will be a proactive person who enjoys problem-solving and collaborative working. You will have a degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience. You will have excellent relationship and project management, communication and networking skills, with the confidence to be a critical friend to academic colleagues in order to achieve the best outcomes. You will have an interest in university research and be able to develop an understanding of the requirements of major funders.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
