Fixed Term Contract: Full Time - 35 Hours per Week

Fixed Term Contract Duration: 2 years - 1st June 2023 – 31st May 2025

The Opportunity:

The post-holder will conduct research into the social/political/religious dynamics of contemporary Indonesia, with applications from candidates whose work engages with broader transnational, international or global contexts particularly welcomed. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the Alwaleed Centre’s academic partnerships and projects with key stakeholders across Indonesia, including universities, government ministries and the British Council. They will also make teaching contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, primarily in connection to the Alwaleed Centre’s Master’s programme in the Globalised Muslim World.

• PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Strong publication track record.
• Ability to network successfully and maintain relationships across a variety of contexts.
• Experience of teaching at postgraduate level.
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A collegial approach to working with others.
