A position exists for a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on low cost digital automation solutions in industrial contexts. The post holder will work with the Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory (led by Prof. Duncan McFarlane).

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are implementing strategies for the scale-up and roll out of technologies across local industrial ecosystems and UK regions; design and delivery of recruitment processes and engaging approaches with UK manufacturing SMEs; seeking, identifying, building and maintaining multiple engagement activities with UK manufacturing SMEs; and generating and supporting presentations and reports.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are to have a relevant PhD or equivalent experience in working with small businesses and helping them understand the potential applications of data driven industrial sensing solutions, and of how these can support such businesses in achieving their objectives. Applicants must have experience of scale-up and roll-out strategies; experience in maintaining multiple engagement activities with UK manufacturing SMEs; and familiarity with the benefits of industrial sensing, digitalisation and automation in manufacturing SMEs.

Salary Range:

Research Associate: £36,024 - £44,263

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2025 in the first instance.
