About us:

The School of Applied Sciences runs a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the conservation and environmental sciences.  This includes the BSc (Hons) Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science, BSc (Hons) Environmental Science, MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation, MRes Applied Sciences and the new MSc Sustainable Food Systems.

About the vacancy:

We have a vacancy to join the School of Applied Sciences as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Applied Ecology. The post holder will support students on our environmental science and conservation programmes by contributing to teaching and learning, as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across the discipline. There may be an opportunity to lead the MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation programme, depending on experience. Occasionally, our lecturers will also be required to support teaching teams in other programmes within the School (e.g. Biological Sciences). You would be invited to be a member of the UWE Ecology and Conservation Research Lab which is home to a cluster of conservation researchers.

This is a full-time permanent post offered as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer role, depending on experience. Preference will be given to applicants who can deliver teaching in practical ecological and environmental field skills and knowledge. Experience and knowledge of UK species identification and habitat survey techniques would be advantageous.

About you:

Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in ecology or a related field relevant to this post or, if from a professional practice background, a Master’s qualification together with significant professional practice experience. We are looking for candidates with a background and broad knowledge across ecology who can deliver teaching on the MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation and on our other conservation and environmental science courses, as well as leading field trips. They should have experience of teaching and assessment at an HEI. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching. Advanced UK species identification/terrestrial habitat survey skills would be advantageous.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus.
