Faculty / Directorate

The DMU Education Academy is De Montfort University’s new educational development and enhancement unit. Applying a strategy-aligned and data-informed approach in all that it does, the Academy supports the delivery of DMU’s Empowering University Strategy and Learning for Life Implementation Plan. Our expert developers in academic practice and digital capability work side-by-side at the centre of DMU’s impactful and student-focused learning and teaching community.

Role

Reporting to the Deputy Head of the Education Academy, you will play a critical role in driving forward a user experience (UX) and accessibility enhancement approach across the University. You will take a strategic leadership role in enhancing the student and staff experience through a focus on the UX and will drive forward innovation and maximising value from existing digital education platforms, ensuring that user needs are at the forefront of the design and delivery of digital provision.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a motivated and experience UX practitioner, with an understanding of how to drive forward innovation for our student community. You will have a strong understanding of accessibility. Web standards and the user experience and have well–developed problem-solving skills with the ability to use your own initiative and judgement when deadline with more complex matters. Other key skills and attributes include:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in digital learning, UX design, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in relation to UX design approaches and methodologies, such as membership of engagement with CMALT.
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) or commitment to attain this during probationary period.
  • A successful track record of working with and evaluating UX design and development tools and demonstrable experience of implementing UX principles and UX research methodologies, ideally within a higher education environment.
  • Commitment to working on campus for three days per week, with two days remote working.
