Background

The Web Development Team is responsible for the development and support of City web sites, web applications and the intranet. We work with the Digital Marketing team, schools, departments and centres to create useful, informative web sites for prospective and current students. As User Experience Architect, you will champion our users throughout the development process, analyse the performance of our web sites, research best practices, and ensure the usability and taxonomy of our web sites supports City’s vision and strategy.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for liaising with City stakeholders to gather requirements that contribute to the development of City’s primary websites including https://www.city.ac.uk and https://www.bayes.city.ac.uk/ ensuring their usability and accessibility throughout. You will facilitate user research and testing sessions and advise on the Information Architecture and taxonomy used on the City websites. You will also contribute to immediate and long-term development priorities with direct line-management responsibility for the User Experience Researcher.

Person Specification

You will have a passion for the development of high-quality, responsive websites that meet key business requirements whilst adhering to current usability requirements and accessibility standards and best practice; with a drive to see these continually evolve.

You will have project planning experience with self motivation, comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with the ability to understand business requirements. Excellent written and verbal skills are required to enable developers to understand and deliver on those requirements.

Experience with industry standards, tools and techniques is necessary to meet the requirements of this role, including user testing, as well as the ability to analyse and monitor the ongoing performance of our websites.
