About the Role

We are currently looking for Lecturers and Senior Lecturers to join our Department of Architecture team.

Working closely with the Course Leaders of BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures and BA (Hons) Architecture courses.  Our Lecturers and Senior Lecturers provide module leadership in the Department of Architecture.

Reporting to the Course Leader of the BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures (IDEAs) course they focus teaching on the reinvention and reuse of existing buildings and spaces.  Underpinned by innovative, sustainable, and ethical approaches, and a commitment to working with communities.

In this role you will teach students across our professionally prescribed and validated courses, also courses without professional recognition for 3 days per week.  You will deliver design studio teaching and technical skills at undergraduate level and support the teaching on postgraduate courses.

Outside of the academic teaching weeks, the role will require the preparation of material, admissions, & recruitment, assessment, coordination, citizenship, and consultancy

About You 

You have 

  • HEA accreditation or a PGCE
  • An innovative approach to design studio teaching
  • Delivered a sustained experience within interior architecture education at Higher Education level.
  • Demonstrated a creative pedagogy to support students develop, iterate, & synthesise their projects that reflect current, critical debates in the profession, the duties of the interior architect & climate literacy. 
  • A strong understanding of construction, material, structural, environmental technologies, & user comfort, along with a clear academic agenda. 
  • A comprehensive knowledge of ARB and RIBA requirements at Parts 1, 2, & 3 in UK schools of architecture.
  • Demonstrable professional knowledge and experience of architecture and spatial design, professional practice, and teaching. 
  • Good organisational and communication skills with an ability to engage with students directly within their chosen industry 
  • A clear knowledge and understanding of current architectural design practices and a keen interest in innovative & emerging technologies in the profession. 
  • Worked across virtual learning environments and associated teaching methodologies,
  • Developed and applied innovative teaching methods using a variety of different resources/materials.
