About the role

Leicester Kidney Lifestyle Team (LKLT) are looking for a bright and enthusiastic early career researcher with an exercise physiology background to take a leading role in a new project aiming to design, implement and evaluate lifestyle self-management resources for kidney patients and healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care. This project is an integral element within our wider Kidney Lifestyle Research Programme (KLRP) and offers scope for career progression in an emerging field in health research.

The LKLT is a multidisciplinary group running a portfolio of clinical and laboratory studies investigating the biomedical, clinical and psychosocial effects of lifestyle interventions in patients with chronic kidney disease; our research explores the mechanisms underlying these effects, and develops and tests strategies for implementing interventions in clinical practice. Our team has nationwide and international collaborations and boasts exciting opportunities for disseminating work through international conferences and publications.

You will have a strong background and expertise in exercise physiology, specifically designing and delivering exercise interventions in chronic disease populations and applying appropriate physical and functional outcome measures. You will draw on your expertise in qualitative and quantitative data methodologies, practical experience in health research and theoretical knowledge, and have an interest in implementation science, health psychology/behaviour research or other health related subject.

About you

To be the ideal candidate for this role you will have a Degree in a subject relevant to the research subject, with evidence of experience working in research with patients with chronic disease, ideally kidney disease. You will be required to have some knowledge or familiarity with mixed methods research, PPIE and clinical trial design and delivery .

We are seeking an individual with experience of interacting with patients in research studies, preferably someone who is/has worked in a healthcare environment. The successful candidate must have, good IT skills, excellent communication and written skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail will be essential to the role
