This is a call for a postdoctoral research fellow position in the laboratory of Prof. Satyajit Mayor in the Division of Biomedical Sciences at Warwick Medical School. The role of the Research Fellow would be to do experiments aimed at identifying proteins that are part and form protein complexes of cell-cell adhesion sites in drosophila melanogaster and mammalian cells. This project will be conducted in close collaboration with Associate Professor Darius Koester.

The duties include maintenance of fly lines and cell lines, the biochemical preparation of experiments for mass spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analysis, and other data analysis as part of individual and collaborative research projects, the write up of research work for publication, the translation of knowledge of advances in the subject area into research activity and eventually the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and contractual purposes, to support a developing research agenda.

This post will build up the capacities of my research group, to strengthen its profile and to gather new data that will be used to publish research papers and that path the way to generate further grant applications.

About You

You will have a good honors degree and a PhD in a relevant field (such as Physics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Biology). Previous experience in biophysics and/ or biochemistry is required as well as good fluorescence microscopy skills.

Enthusiasm and a demonstrable track record of productive work are essential.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure
