Brief Description of the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced epidemiology research fellow to work within the Born in Bradford research programme. BiB is an internationally recognised applied health research project that aims to find out what makes children happy and healthy. It is home to three large birth cohorts of over 30,000 Bradfordians.

This is a full-time post (part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate) and is fixed term until August 2027. The post will be based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with an honorary contract and connections with the University of York. There is an expectation that the post holder will work on-site for 60% of their working hours.

We can offer staff gymnasiums, subsidised restaurants, excellent pension scheme including life assurance cover and childcare facilities.

The post holder will work on the novel interventional BiBBS birth cohort which completes recruitment in July 2024 with ~6,000 families from ethnically diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds. The post holder will provide analytical support to reap the learning from this cohort to learn more about the social determinants of early years development, how to reduce inequalities and understand the impact of multiple early-years interventions. They will have the opportunity to learn and apply methods in a novel field of research - the impact of combinations of interventions and services to identify which “stacks” / “pathways” have the greatest impact on child outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree in epidemiology/statistics, an understanding of the social determinants of child development, experience of working with large datasets, including cohort and/or routine health and education data, and experience of relevant methodologies suitable for this programme of research evidenced by first author publications.

We can offer staff gymnasiums on both hospital sites, excellent pension scheme and advice on childcare.

Closing Date:            27.06.24                      (This date may change dependent on the response)
