Do you have a passion for historic documents? Would you like to help make our archival collections accessible to researchers and staff?
The Whipple Museum of the History of Science is seeking an archivist with experience working with historic documents to catalogue the Museum's archival material to sector standards.
The main purpose of this role is to make the Whipple Museum's archival material accessible to researchers and staff.
The Archivist will work with the Collections Manager to appraise the documents, then work independently to arrange and describe the material, create records on ArchivesSpace and the Museum's database (FileMaker), and rehouse the material, flagging any items that need conservation. This will enable researchers to see what holdings the Museum has and facilitate Museum staff in providing access.
With an interest in the history of science and experience working in an archive or museum in a similar role, you will join us with good organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent IT skills.
This role is part time, with the option of two or three days a week according to the candidate's preference.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security check and health assessment.
