Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for teaching and research for the Optometry programmes, contributing to the design and delivery of learning and teaching materials (including assessments). You will work as an integral part of the optometry and the wider team and be expected to develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies, which promote interest and motivation amongst students. Within this role you will be required to act as a project supervisor and personal tutor for undergraduate and research students. You will also participate in the accreditation of courses, the development of assessments, and audit management to ensure academic quality assurance. You will play an active role in programme reviews to ensure that currency and excellence are maintained.
Skills and experience required
You must have experience in practice working in community, hospital or primary care with evidence of current clinical practice. You should be a source of knowledge and expertise of UK Optometric regulations and possess specialist knowledge within an interest in various aspects of optometry. Proficiency in English Language and relevant IT Skills are essential for this role. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to plan and manage your own activities and workload effectively evidencing your leadership potential. You will be a team player with an ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and health and safety
Qualifications required
You will hold a minimum of a degree or equivalent in Optometry Vision Science or a Professional Qualification in a relevant discipline.
This appointment will be made in accordance with guidance from the GOC that the post-holder must have:
A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake a teaching qualification is desirable.
