Job Summary
The new Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein is seeking a Centre Manager who will be a key member of the Center’s leadership team, working closely with the directors to set the strategy. The Centre Manager will lead all operational activities and be responsible for the planning and provision of key operational services necessary for the successful delivery of the ambitious research programmes within the Bezos Centre. They will also lead operational activities for the Microbial Food hub.

Duties and responsibilities
- You will lead, manage and deliver effective operational support across the Bezos Centre, develop administrative policies and procedures, implement those already established, initiate, and manage change successfully, and oversee the creation of new laboratory and office spaces.
- You will advise and assist the Centre and Hub’s Directorship in identifying short, medium- and long-term strategic objectives and priorities, providing and interpreting relevant background data as appropriate and identifying trends and solutions to support the decision-making process.
- You will assist in setting, organising, and managing the Bezos Centre’s operational and business plan to ensure successful delivery of its activities across research, education, and translation projects, fostering the development of a strong community within Imperial and supporting the development of long-term collaborations with external (UK and global) partners.
- You will contribute to the financial success and sustainability of the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein and the Microbial Food Hub even beyond the 5 years of funding through budget and resource planning, budget management, working closely with Faculty staff, and by helping to secure public and private funding in collaboration with academics, corporate partnerships, and advancement.
- You will represent the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein, and promote and enhance its visibility internally and externally, supporting the senior leadership team in developing and expanding initiatives and programmes. Initially this will involve leading the organisation of academic and industrial events.
Essential requirements
- Considerable experience in strategic management and leadership, and in driving the implementation of development projects and programs within a complex organisation.
- Knowledge and experience of delivering scientific projects or comparable technical projects within a project management framework using initiative and judgement.
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Extensive experience of managing budgets in a flexible and accountable way, financial reporting and providing sound financial management advice to budget holders.
- Considerable experience of working with a wide range of multinational partners and developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to lead decisively, proactively solve problems, and enact decisions whilst also taking into consideration the different opinions and needs of stakeholder groups.
