The Keith Peters Building houses the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) and the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU). These form part of the University of Cambridge Clinical School based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
An opportunity has arisen to join a team of four Receptionists who provide that all-important first point of contact for incoming telephone calls and visitors to the Building. The role will also be involved in sorting mail, organising room bookings, maintaining the security card database and other general reception duties.
Hours worked are on a shift pattern of two days one week and three days the next averaging 16 hours per week (08.00-15.00 hours or 09.15-17.00 hours, depending on shift). The days worked are not the same each week, but the rota is organised 12 months in advance allowing you to know when you will be working. You will also be expected to cover for holiday and sickness absence as and when required, reimbursed by overtime payments.
You will possess good interpersonal skills, have a welcoming, positive and polite manner and a smart appearance (a uniform will be provided). Basic IT skills would be an advantage and in-house training will be provided. Flexibility and team-work are essential to making this role a success.
