We are looking for a Research Assistant to work with Dr Carolyn Plateau (PI) and Dr Jamie Barker (Co-I) on a project funded by Gamble Aware, via the Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research.
The Research Assistant will support data collection to explore the role of group dynamics (e.g., social and peer influences) on gambling attitudes, behaviours and consequences within elite and professional cricket. The project will help to inform the development of future interventions to reduce gambling harms in cricket and broader sport.
The ideal candidate will have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (e.g., psychology; sport and exercise science) as well as a postgraduate qualification in sport and exercise psychology (MSc) and relevant research experience.
The candidate will have experience in conducting and analysing both qualitative and quantitative research, as well as excellent communication skills, and experience of writing for both academic and lay audiences. Having a good understanding of the cricket context will be an advantage to conducting and disseminating this research.
This part-time post is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2025. Please note this vacancy is subject to funding.
For more information refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Carolyn Plateau, Senior Lecturer in Psychology, via email to C.R.Plateau@lboro.ac.uk or by telephone to 01509 228487.
Loughborough University is committed to allowing its employees to work dynamically with a combination of working on campus and remotely, where possible. This has been identified as a role that could work dynamically and, if successful, your line manager will discuss these informal arrangements with you. Please note that there is a general expectation that the successful candidate will spend the majority of time working on the Loughborough campus.
