Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to join a 4-year NIHR funded Global Health research group at Imperial College London, with project partners in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
This programme of work - iTARA (Integrated TB and Respiratory care in Africa) – will investigate novel approaches to integrated TB-respiratory care in Africa using multidisciplinary research methods (clinical epidemiology, ethnography, health economics, and health systems).
As the UK based post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) you will focus on the health systems components of this programme of work. You will work with the study team and stakeholders to understand existing health systems for TB and respiratory care in our partner sites, to develop a theoretical framework for integrated service delivery, and to propose new models of care. You will co-supervise a team of qualitative research assistants and will play an active role in mentoring the PhD students within the grant.
This is an opportunity to work within a funded and established partnership to develop new approaches to health care delivery in low-resource settings. You will have access to senior multi-disciplinary scientists, experienced site partners, and a range of stakeholders. Whilst we expect that your work will primarily be focused on iTARA research activities, we will support you to develop your own research ideas and will aim to support your progression as an independent researcher.
We are looking for a colleague with excellent communication skills and a passion for improving patient centred care. It is important that you enjoy working collaboratively in a diverse team and have some understanding of the principles of health systems research. Previous research experience in the Global South will be beneficial.
Duties and responsibilities
As the post-doctoral research associate, you will be based in the UK with travel to African partner sites in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
