The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 573 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, demonstrating that we are not only one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, but one of the best universities for the world. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research Culture & Researcher Development portfolio within the University’s central Research Services Directorate. The Researcher Development Team sits within the Research Culture & Researcher Development portfolio and is an inter-disciplinary education-focused team that supports over 6000 researchers including all the University’s postgraduate researchers, research staff, and academic leaders, under six priority themes. Researcher Development encompasses a broad spectrum of activities and events which are designed to enrich researchers’ skills and working relationships, foster their talents, and accelerate their professional prospects. The Writing and Communications postholder leads on all aspects of writing support for researchers. This includes delivering workshops, mentoring programmes, writing festivals, inter-university writing retreats, self-paced training, 1-to-1 support, policy guidance and more. The role supports writing for all researchers and research leaders with a particular focus on PhD researchers and their supervisors.
In this role you will support University of Glasgow postgraduate researchers learning English for Doctoral Writing as an Additional Language (EAL-PGRs) to become effective, independent academic writers, through leading the design and delivery of a framework of high-quality and relevant initiatives and provision for EAL-PGRs and their supervisors.
