We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent Lecturer, primarily to teach chemistry at undergraduate level, with a particular focus on physical chemistry topics at all levels, such as quantum mechanics, electrochemistry and group theory. An ability to teach some aspects of inorganic chemistry would be an advantage.
Your role will involve teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate programs and will include all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, including preparation, lecturing, tutorials and assessment, as well as teaching of practical or laboratory classes.
You may also be involved with supporting students on placement or in work-based learning and will undertake administrative duties relevant to module delivery.
You will teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will be an enthusiastic and committed individual, able to create a vibrant, engaging learning experience for our students.
You will have a relevant PhD or be near to completion and will have strong analytical skills for data interpretation and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
In addition, you will be expected to contribute to research outcomes - as part of a multi-disciplinary team - in an area aligned to the key research themes of the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC).
These will enhance the research centre profile through publication of high-quality research, income generation and/ or knowledge exchange activities.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. Find out more about the TPS.
If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the LGPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.
