We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The Institute of Science and Environment is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Biomedical Science. The post holder will join a successful, experienced and ambitious teaching team with a reputation for innovation in course design and delivery. The team currently delivers Bachelor of Science programmes in Biomedical Sciences, Forensic Science, Chemistry, and Zoology and are supporting the development of the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, a newly founded post-graduate medical school in partnership with Imperial College London, set to take its first medical students in September 2025. In April 2024 our Biomedical Science programme had a successful IBMS accreditation visit, and we anticipate welcoming the first students to the accredited programme in September 2024.
The post holder will be required to contribute to delivery of core modules across Programmes and year groups which includes integrated foundation years. They will also be expected to actively engage with research and scholarship that supports teaching activities, the student experience and their own research and knowledge exchange agenda. The successful candidate will have clinical experience or be a HCPC registered biomedical scientist and/or be a member of the IBMS. Lecturing experience in Biomedical Science at HE level is desirable but not essential. For those new to HE teaching, the University offers a PgC in Learning and Teaching for Higher Education.
