Are you an early career Application Support Technician looking to broaden your skills across a global service management aligned organisation?
We are pleased to announce a fixed term opportunity for a developing Application Support Technician to join our Digital & Technology Services team at an unprecedented time of change and digital transformation.
As an Application Support Technician, you will work within an established team, dedicated to ensuring that the portfolio of global services which underpin and provide data for the university’s business processes operate and are maintained to the high standards expected by the University of Nottingham.
The role will be required to work with users from multiple functions to support critical business activities, both day to day, such as setting up user access, assisting with configuration of corporate applications, managing incident/problem requests, and those which occur annually, such as financial year end. You will also be expected to deliver small scale developments in response to service requests as well as contributing to project work that involves data archiving and the decommissioning of systems.
Your background will include proven experience of providing second line support in an IT environment with a broad understanding of a range of operating, systems, web applications and database technologies. You will possess an analytical mindset, be able to translate messages clearly to non-technical audiences and have the ability to work with others to solve complex problems. You will also have a strong customer service ethos and excellent interpersonal skills.
At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and attractive pension scheme.
As the successful candidate, you will be educated to HNC level/equivalent with a proven track record of relevant work experience. You will ideally possess an ITIL qualification and have experience of working in an IT environment.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis until 31st July 2026. Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
