About the Role
The Events programme at Queen Mary Students’ Union is integral to the student experience and Queen Mary University of London, providing them with a platform to meet others, socialise and unwind during their time with us. With an a hugely programme of events over 200 events annually, from wellbeing talks to club nights, there is a fantastic platform for an Events Administrator to come in and make their mark, with a pro-active, open-minded approach and most importantly, with students at its heart.
Queen Mary Students’ Union represents and supports over 28,000 students and around 4,500 staff who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London. The role is primarily based on our Mile End Campus of the University, which is close to both Mile End and Stepney Green Underground Station, although work on our other campuses and external areas, is also expected.
The Events Administrators primary role is to arrange and prepare the annual Students Union Events Calendar, as set by our Senior Commercial team, across our sites to act as a point of contact with all event enquiries, whilst operationally assist in the delivery of high-quality events and activities to our student body. To manage the administration behind the events, ensuring they appeal to our student groups who are less engaged. To ensure our events pages on our website and our social media outlets are kept up to date and are relevant. With one of the most diverse programmes in our field, you will be expected to engage with our student body in order to establish gaps in the market, acting accordingly.
About You
You should be a ‘hands on’ organised person who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core, but with an ability to see projects through from start to finish. This role’s hours would be predominantly Monday – Friday but would require occasional evening and weekend work.
