Applicants are invited to apply for a Clinical Research Fellowship in the Clinical Ophthalmology Research Group reporting to Dr Jasmina Kapetanovic an MRC Clinician Scientist at the University of Oxford and Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Oxford Eye Hospital.
The Clinical Research Fellow will participate in Dr Kapetanovic’s clinical research programme evaluating robotic assistance in endovascular surgery for retinal vein occlusion. The post-holder would assume responsibility for the academic, clinical and administrative duties associated with this post. Depending on the level of experience, they would also gain training in general ophthalmology and/or vitreoretinal surgery (if relevant) and could join the rota with the other ophthalmology trainees and/or vitreoretinal fellows. For non-vitreoretinal applicants, additional training would be in general ophthalmology, medical retina, genetics and an option to work in the cataract service for those so inclined.
Your responsibilities will include assuming responsibility for the academic, clinical and administrative duties associated with this post and undertaking the management of day-to-day activities of ongoing clinical trials, working closely with Dr Kapetanovic, senior colleagues and the hospital staff to ensure smooth operation of the clinical trial programme.
It is essential that you have a medical degree with interest in ophthalmology career and GMC registration with a valid licence to practice.
It is desirable that you have a membership/fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (or equivalent body), clinical skills and competence in medical or surgical retina (fellowship-level training) and a PhD/DPhil or an equivalent research degree (e.g. an MD) in the biomedical sciences or a related field.

The post is full time for a fixed term of 1 year in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
