About the Role
Queen Mary University of London seeks to become the most inclusive institution of our kind, anywhere, by 2030; this commitment spans staff and student experience, ensuring that everyone can work and learn to the best of their ability at our University.
Since the establishment of our Strategy 2030 in 2019, the University’s leadership requirements for culture and inclusion have evolved; we have built strong foundations for this work, seen a step change in diversifying our staff, made significant progress closing attainment gaps, and have increased our institutional maturity and capacity to rise to our ambition.
Now, following this impact, we are seeking to appoint an Associate Director Culture and Inclusion to define and drive forward our Culture and Inclusion Enabling Plan and to play a key role in guiding our organisation to further realise our inclusive commitments.
The role holder will provide institutional leadership in culture and inclusion, including operational responsibility for defining and delivering our Culture and Inclusion Enabling Plan across our core activities of education, research, societal impact and our services. They will provide leadership for the University’s equality, diversity and inclusion practitioners and resource and translate strategic decisions and policy changes into impactful programmes, activity and transformation.
About You
The successful candidate will be a credible and respected equality, diversity and inclusion leader who can influence policy through engagement and collaboration. They will demonstrate evidence of engaging a wide community with equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives that deliver sustainable cultural change and demonstrable organisational impact, and of building and maintaining effective and productive working relationships and networks, internally and externally.
About Queen Mary
At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.
Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
Our reformer heritage informs our conviction that great ideas can and should come from anywhere. It’s an approach that has brought results across the globe, from the communities of east London to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
In return, we offer 30 days’ leave per annum, access to a pension scheme, a season ticket loan scheme and competitive salaries. We also offer enhanced family friendly leave. You will also work with a friendly team, with personal development opportunities.
Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
