This new role is based at the Department of Engineering's Electrical Engineering Division in West Cambridge. You will provide research and administrative support to the Centre for Photonic Devices and Sensors, and its Director, in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of research and related activities.
Duties of the role include providing administrative support for senior members of the research team, as well as carrying out financial duties for these individuals, responsibility for maintaining and updating the Centre's electronic and paper records as well as its website, supporting recruitment processes, arranging travel and meetings/conferences/events. You will also coordinate the maintenance of specialised research equipment, perform internet searches for scientific papers or other publications and assist with the preparation and submission of research governance applications.
The successful candidate will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent standard/NVQ level 3 or have an equivalent level of practical experience. You will be highly competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages and be able to demonstrate knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts related to Research Administration. Previous experience working in an administrative / secretarial role is essential. The role also requires excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
