About the role
As the new Vice-Chancellor & CEO, you will provide the vision and leadership required to ensure the future prosperity and success of Bishop Grosseteste University. Building upon existing strengths and areas of specialism, you will ensure the University continues to deliver transformative education with social purpose and in line with our mission to support access to higher education.
You will champion BGU’s compelling vision and identity and will be accountable for the strategic direction, priorities and targets of the University, in collaboration with the University Council and Executive Group. You will be expected to inspire people and teams, be a visible presence, and build effective relationships with staff and students across the University.

You will bring experience of managing, developing and inspiring talented staff in multi-skilled roles to perform to their highest standard, whilst driving a culture of commitment, innovation and engagement aligned to our organisational values.
Knowledge of the Higher Education sector, especially experience of working practices in a smaller HE institution, the development of an academic portfolio that includes partnerships, online and apprenticeship delivery, and understanding of academic research would be advantageous.
You will have experience of implementing and delivering strategy and strategic change, and monitoring plans against KPIs. Ideally, you will have had experience of organisational and financial turnaround and be skilled in driving efficiencies that balance core academic activities with the wider business needs of the University.
You will be an exceptional communicator, with the skills to influence and establish trust and credibility with a range of stakeholders, internally and externally. You will have experience of building and maintaining partnerships that support the sustainability and growth of an organisation, whilst maintaining quality and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
We are seeking candidates who will model and embody strong personal relationships and have a strong commitment to the social purpose of the University, diversity and equality, and will champion the mission of BGU as our next executive leader.
