We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Bioinformatician to work within David Church’s research group at the Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine as part of the Oxford LynchVax project. LynchVax is a multidisciplinary group, the aim of which is to develop a vaccine to prevent cancer in people with Lynch Syndrome (LS).
You will be responsible for developing informatics structures to manage large datasets, including the organisation of data storage and repository solutions that meet current publishing standards. You will provide bioinformatics expertise, support and teaching to a multi-disciplinary team of biological, computational and clinical researchers by curating and processing raw ‘omic and spatial biology data and performing hypothesis led and hypothesis generating primary analysis to apply bioinformatics solutions to biomedical problems relevant to this project.
To be successfully in this role, you will hold a PhD/DPhil in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, Mathematical Biology or a related subject along with demonstrable experience, ability and practical success in biostatistics or bioinformatics. You will have research experience and a publication record and will be able to supervise staff. You will also have excellent data analysis skills, including experience with analysing whole genome, whole exome and RNAseq data and be proficient in the use of statistical programming languages such as R/BioConductor.
