We are committed to providing opportunities for all and have been transforming lives in London and further afield for over 120 years. We are part of a diverse group comprising London South Bank University, University Academies and Colleges and an enterprise centre. We take pride in the value that our degree programmes add, the employability and success of our graduates and the impact of our world-leading applied research.
To build on our strengths and position us best for future success, we are currently undergoing an academic re-shaping exercise, which involves combining eight schools of study into three Colleges, each with three or four Schools within them. This will facilitate enhanced strategic leadership across related subject areas, promote synergies between teaching and research, and provide a strong platform for sustainable growth. We are now seeking an Executive Dean for the College of Health and Life Sciences, which comprises three Schools: Nursing and Midwifery; Allied and Community Health; and Applied and Health Sciences.
The College makes a huge contribution to health and social care and wider life sciences in London and beyond. It partners with over 60 NHS trusts across the UK and has trained over a quarter of all the nurses in the capital city. It has excellent research and teaching facilities, with planned developments including a £5mn simulation facility, and the development of pharmaceutical sciences in 2025.
We are looking to appoint an inspiring Executive Dean for the newly combined College who understands and nurtures our history, our diversity and our distinctiveness, and who can work with the College and wider University community to celebrate our strengths and achievements, and help forge an ambitious path forward.
Reporting to the Provost, Professor Tara Dean, the Executive Dean will be a member of the University’s Management Board and, as such, will play an important role in the management of the University. They will be a champion and advocate for the positive contribution the College and University make as a civic university. Equally, they will share our values and have the ability to engender an inclusive and respectful culture.
The successful candidate will have a strong intellectual and academic record, high level analytical skills and the ability to think broadly and strategically alongside a track record of having provided visionary and transformative leadership to academic teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
At LSBU, you’ll get to contribute to a vibrant and dynamic culture, which is fuelled by purpose, built around people, and genuinely diverse. You’ll be trusted and recognised for your unique contribution.
You will be part of a great team, turning your passion into purpose.
Applications, which should be in the form of a CV and cover letter, should be sent to execdeanlsbu@minervasearch.com
Interviews will take place Friday 11 October.
