About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Steve Maggs (Professor (Teaching Focussed)) at steve.maggs@warwick.ac.uk.
As the Head of WMG Skills Centre, you will lead the charge in establishing our Centre as a global leader in workforce development and industry-aligned upskilling programs. This is a pivotal role where you will craft and execute the strategic vision for the Centre, ensuring it meets WMG's broader goals while driving innovation in how we deliver cutting-edge, non-award courses across a wide range of disciplines.
You will oversee the operational aspects of the Centre, working closely with professional services colleagues, Learning Designers, Project Managers, and support staff to deliver impactful and customized learning experiences. Your role will be instrumental in developing and fostering relationships with industry partners, ensuring our programs meet the evolving needs of the workforce.
In addition to your leadership responsibilities, you will be able to contribute to either the teaching of either skills centre courses or other WMG academic courses. Your ability to innovate with new learning formats, such as micro-credentials and virtual reality simulations, will set the standard for excellence and industry relevance.
We offer a dynamic and supportive environment where your strategic vision can thrive. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the WMG Skills Centre, making a lasting impact on both the Centre and the wider industry.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
We are seeking a visionary leader with a strong background in education, training, or workforce development, as well as a proven excellence in teaching. You should have a proven track record of successfully leading teams, developing innovative programs, and driving growth in a complex, fast-paced environment. Your understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies will be crucial in ensuring our programs remain at the forefront of workforce development.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess exceptional strategic planning skills, the ability to solve complex problems, and a strong decision-making acumen. You will be a natural collaborator, able to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, from academic experts to industry leaders.
Experience in program development, instructional design, and digital learning technologies will be highly advantageous, as will a solid understanding of financial management and revenue growth strategies. Your entrepreneurial mindset and innovative approach will help us push boundaries and create impactful learning experiences.
If you are passionate about shaping the future of workforce development and have the leadership skills to guide our Centre to new heights, we invite you to join us in this exciting role.
