Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking applications for the position of Research Tutor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology within the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology. The Doctoral Course is well-established and has a respected reputation for quality. The Salomons Institute is based in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, 10 minutes walk from the station and enjoys excellent administrative, IT and library support. The Course has a solid value base that aligns with the NHS values, HCPC and BPS codes of professional conduct, and an anti-racist stance.

We welcome applications from Clinical Psychologists from Black, Asian, Dual/Multiple Heritage and other minoritised groups. We particularly invite those working with Older People mental health, or with an interest in this specialty, and practitioners with BABCP or AFT accredited qualifications.

You will be a qualified and HCPC-registered clinical psychologist with good clinical practice experience and a breadth of awareness to understand issues across clinical specialities. You will have experience in supervision and teaching. In addition, you will have good research skills and the ability to promote your development in others. You will enjoy working with trainees and will be able to support the development of individuals and nurture collaborative working relationships across various complex organisational and professional contexts. You will be looking to develop research within your particular area of speciality and will be supported by the University’s Early Research Career Programme. You will be able to support the course’s expressed values.

How will you work?

Days of work Tuesday to Friday, or Wednesday to Friday.

Applications will be considered from newly qualified clinical psychologists, as well as those with more experience, who demonstrate a keen ability and interest in research. The post will be part of the Research team, supporting the teaching, supervision, and development of research skills in trainees. Key responsibilities will include developing one's own research portfolio and contributing to the quality assurance of the research elements of the course.

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is flexible and connected (Academic & Student Facing). Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.
