Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Flow Cytometry Facility led by Pier Andrée Penttilä within the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology. This project will focus on the development of high-resolution imaging flow cytometry; specifically to develop methods to couple light-sheet, multispectral imaging technology to flow cytometric cell sorting.
This 2-year position is in collaboration with James Manton at the LMB (https://www.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/jmanton/ ) and Morag Rose Hunter at AstraZeneca as part of the LMB/AstraZeneca Blue Sky collaboration (https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/research/blue-sky-collaboration/). It is a training and development position suitable for you if you have recently completed your doctoral studies, or you are looking to move into a new research discipline and/or need to further develop your research skills. Working with our world class scientists you will be working in an Institute renowned for its excellent scientific facilities and high-quality research
We are seeking enthusiastic candidates who possess a PhD in a relevant field or are due to complete their PhD in six months. In particular, you will have a track record in methods development in optics and/or instrument building. Experience in flow cytometry, light-sheet microscopy and/or image processing would be advantageous. You will be expected to creatively and independently carry out your own research project whilst collaborating on a regular basis with a team of experimentalists such as immunologists, cell and computational biologists. Upon completion of the post, you will have gained experience in technological development relevant across a wide field of research questions.
The closing date for applications is 22nd September 2024. Interviews are likely to be held the week of September 30th 2024. The post is expected to start from October 2024 with some flexibility for start dates up to January 2025.
