We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of International Programmes to join the School of Infection and Immunity at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) to oversee international teams working in two consortia, led by Prof Steven Sinkins at the CVR on the control of dengue virus using Wolbachia and developing malaria control using symbionts.
The role will involve day to day management and co-ordination of the two consortia providing strategic leadership, management, and direction for the development and wider rollout of symbiont-based disease control approaches. The post holder will also be responsible for initiating contact with, advise and negotiate new contracts with Governments to ensure wider rollout of these approaches.
The successful candidate is expected to be an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well organised individual with knowledge of project management techniques and tools and their application in a mosquito control context. Proven problem-solving capabilities with excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills are essential for this post.
In addition, the post holder will co-ordinate a portfolio of initiatives, manage and monitor project budgets, provide the PI with detailed project status reports, and assist in reporting on the progress and achievements to the consortia funders.
