They are responsible for ensuring our award-winning accommodation, lecture theatres and conference rooms, hospitality outlets, flats and public areas all used by staff, students during term time and then conference guests and holiday makers in vacation periods are maintained to our high standards.
If you feel you could effectively oversee and coordinate a team of handypersons to prioritise and deliver services on time and to standard, this could be the perfect role for you.
As Handyperson Supervisor you can expect to be involved in:
- Coordinating a small team of Handypersons, allocating workload, managing absences and identifying training requirements.
- Carrying out the day-to-day triaging of defects, assessing the level of repair required, and either fix the fault found or escalate to maintenance staff as necessary, within specified service level deadlines. You will work independently on the majority of assigned jobs, while also working collaboratively and proactively with other teams.
- You will undertake removals and deliveries of cleaning materials and equipment, across the University campus ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained at all times.
- You will need to work flexibly at key times to provide support during business-critical conference periods, on campus recruitment events and student arrivals and departures.
What will you bring to the role?
- GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent
- Apprenticeship training/qualification in relevant trade or equivalent skills obtained through practical work experience with a knowledge and understanding of the safe use of tools and equipment
- NVQ 2 or City and Guilds in relevant trade or equivalent skills obtained through practical work experience
- An organised approach including able to prioritise and deliver on time and to standard
- Previous experience of work task planning, including allocating tasks to a team of people is desirable.
