Core Scientist in Avian Immunobiology (Maternity Cover)

Full time - 35 hours per week

Fixed term: until 31^st March 2025, with possible extension to 30^th of June 2025

The opportunity:

We are looking for a Core Scientist/PDRA to join a research group looking at the fundamental understanding of the role of immune cells in chickens during vaccine and natural immune responses. This knowledge will help address challenges related to the vaccine mediated immune responses and disease resistance.

Applications are invited for an exciting post-doctoral equivalent position funded by the Roslin Institute’s core strategic funding in the new Division of Immunology. The post is within Dr Kate Sutton’s research group at The Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh.

The post holder will use various techniques to improve our understanding of Avian Dendritic Cell Immunobiology using transgenic chicken lines. The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD or be near to completing a PhD in a related field, and will have experience in wet and dry-lab techniques.

The individual appointed to this position will support the Sutton group’s research efforts through planning and conducting experiments; analysing data; and through the production of high-quality scientific publications. They will also support the Roslin Institute’s wider scientific community through collaboration, taking part in public engagement activities, and/or serving on committees.
